Positive Behaviour for Learning

At our school, we use Positive Behaviour for Learning 'PBL' – a whole-school approach for creating a positive, safe and supportive school climate where students can learn and develop. Our whole school community works together to establish expected behaviours and teach them to all students.

Values Awards, Principal's Awards and Principal's Badges

Students will have the opportunity to receive Values Certificates throughout the school year for from their teachers, either for positive behaviours, academic achievements and demonstrating our values of Respect, Responsibility & Resilience.

Once a student receives 5 values certificates, they are able to trade them in at the school office for a Principal's Award.  Parents are invited to assemblies to see their child receive their award, along with a small gift.

The 5 values certificates can be a combination of the 3 school values and come from any year the student has been at DPS.

Once the student has received 3 Principal's Awards, they can bring them to the school office and choose their Principal's Badge from one of the 3 values. We encourage students to have a think about which value they would like to receive their award for, reflecting on the values of Respect, Responsibility & Resilience.

Tokens

PBL tokens are instant, moment driven rewards that teachers will give students to acknowledge positive behaviours observed at school.

Students are meant to place their PBL Tokens in their respective Sport House PBL box outside of Mr Nguyen's office. These should not be taken home or kept as they are recycled and reused.

At the end of each week, House captains will collect and count tokens, providing the school community with a weekly Sports House tally on the notice board outside main office, in the newsletter and on the electronic noticeboard.

At the end of each term, the winning Sports House will be announced and will have a mufti day (their house colours) and receive a prize!

Peer Support

Student Government

Drummoyne Public School has a Student Government which meets regularly. Each class elects two representatives, to take their concerns to the council for discussion. A member of staff supervises, directs and organises the Student Government. Prefects are elected from within the Year 6 student body. Prefects uphold and demonstrate the school values, as detailed in the "Our School" section.
