Travel to School
Planning your school travel is easy. There are a range of safe transport options to get to our school. Check our location map, driving details and public transport options to help make the journey to school safe and easy.
Driving and Parking
The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.
When driving and parking near our school, please:
- allow enough time to find a parking spot
- ensure you park safely in school zones
- follow speed signs
- do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school
If you are running late please contact the office, we can have your child wait at the office for you.
Kiss and Go Zone - Thompson St
DPS has a council designated, drop-off and pick-up 'Kiss and Go' zone, at the Thompson Street gate.
Kiss and Go zones are designed for quick entry and exit, for students who are able to independently walk themselves to and from vehicles. These zones minimise congestion and risk when used properly by all parents and carers.
This zone has a 2-minute time limit at allocated times at the beginning and end of the school day. You are also required to remain in, or within 3 metres of, your vehicle. Council rangers actively patrol the area during these times and will fine vehicles in these zones if cars are left unattended or parked longer than permitted time.
Students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 cannot be dismissed without a parent/carer present and will need to be collected at the end of the day from the pickup location inside the school gates from the class teacher. Kiss and Go is not recommended for parents of K-2 parents for this reason and we recommend finding alternate parking in the surrounding streets to ensure you have sufficient time to safely collect your child.
School Bus Services
Drummoyne Public School has several School bus options for travelling to and from school safely, via public transport.
The area at the front of the school on Rawson Ave is a designated bus zone before and after school. Some students may be eligable for a Student Opal Pass.
Catching the bus
Students who catch the bus must wait on the benches inside the school gates on Rawson St, under the supervision of the teacher on bus duty at the end of the school day. Students should not exit the school and board the bus until announced by the teacher on duty.
Students who catch the bus are expected to behave safely and respectfully, in line with the School student code of conduct.
Please note, bus services are privately operated and are not affiliated with the school. The school is not provided direct information regarding disruption to services and cannot provide parents and students live updates regarding services.
We encourage parents to speak to their children about how to stay safe when using the bus, and what to do should something not go to plan.
Depot information regarding feedback and lost property.
